So with this annoying white stuff on the ground.....the wife and I were talking about putting a plow on the front of the EX. What brands? Where is the best to buy online?
Russ (AKA "AlaskanEX") is a sale/service rep and former shop tech for the biggest Boss snow plow dealer in Alaska, he will be able to fill you in on what all would be needed for an EX plow setup.

Awh, you remembered!
So, with that said. Any plow mount from a 1999-2007 Super Duty truck will bolt up to an Excursion. After that pick what plow you want and beef up your front springs and start pushing snow!! It's really that simple! Boss uses the same kit 99-07 other plow makers may have slight differences that i'm not aware of.
I have a 7'6" Boss plow on my F-250. I have a plow mount for my Excursion but have not put it on. All i need now is a wiring harness and i'll be able to plow with my Ex if i wanted to. I'm mainly thinking of putting it all on to have a back up in case something happens to my F-250.
Over the years i've put snow plows on all kinds of funky stuff, the best being a late 80s 4x4 Ford Econoline Van That was a totally custom mount.
I have a friend that plows commercially. He runs Western plows with good results. I haven't heard anything bad about the Boss plows, but don't know anyone that has one. Fisher plows are very popular out in the North east. Not sure where you live.
For just your driveway, several that mount to a 2" receiver tube are available. Put a receiver on the front for a couple hundred, then mount one of these....
After the winter we had this year and last I was actually wanting to ask about this too... I see a lot of guys doing work for small businesses locally with their trucks and if I could make a small bit of money maybe it might be worth it. Would have to change my screen name though
I run a Boss v-plow on mine. Its pretty heavy, combine that with a 6.0 and x codes are mandatory. I also run about #400 of sand bag ballast in the back. This thing will flat move some snow though.
Magilla, now THAT'S a plow! I am sure it weighs more than the 110 pounds of the etrailer version, and a lot more than 2 grand. Makes a nice bumper guard, much better than the tow hook I leave on mine in the front receiver. Had a guy searching for my bumper in Costco parking lot, hit the hook, didn't believe it, so backed up his mini van and did it again! He was quite irate he didn't smash into my bumper. I was trying to glare at him, but I was laughing too hard.

And whomever asked if I was just now thinking of a plow now for this year.....mmmmmmmmmm no! I would look to buy one in the middle of summer and try to get a deal! I am a cheap *******!
After the last snow we had....and having kids that did not shovel properly...me tweaking my back fixing the mess....I thought about a plow!
