I believe it's too heavy and will gum up your tools. Air tool oil is cheap and you only need a few drops. I wouldn't do it, unless you like taking things apart. hehehe
Appreciate in info. and no I don't like taking things apart. Better safe than sorry, now it's just a matter of thinking up other uses for it. Thanks again.
Great suggestions, can't recall when the generator, pressure washer, and tiller, to new a couple, have had an oil change and/or tune up. Nice summer project, just a matter of putting on the summer tooo dooo list. Don't think it will work on my chain saw, bar oil usually the consistancy of malasses, not sure about electric saws. Thanks for the input.
Now and then I run some WD-40 through my air tools to clean them out. That loosens the dirt and deposits. Then I run some Marvel Mystery Oil. I've never had a problem with this procedure.
30Wt would work fine in your air tools like drills and impacts. Is not as good as Marvel Mystery Oil though. I wouldn't use it in percussion tools like jackhammer or hammer drills. It probably would ignite in the cylinder and overheat the tool.
Used to use 30 weight non detergent (MIL 17331 or 2190 TEP) in our oilers on ships and in all our air tools and never had an issue. I like to put automatic oilers in and use Marvel myself. And yea the WD or Kroil once a month with a good shot of Marvel does wonders. I got 15 year old IR 1/2" that still bust nuts better than most 3/4" do.
I ran out of air tool oil and thought it would be a good idea to try compressor oil on my impact wrench, I assume it's 30weight non-detergent.. my impact wrench got all screwy and started sticking 'on' when I would press the button.
It was about 10F outside so that might have had something to do with it, but I probably wont try 30 weight oil in my air tools again.
just found an air tool oiler, go check out a user named Torque1st it is in his gallery it works awesome, Eric is a genius, to bad he doesnt come around much anymore. give it a looksie. Dan
