I have an e40d trans..I herd that the sensor on the transfer case has somthing to do with my cruise so i unplugged it and a bunch of debrie came out of it.I was wondering what i should clean it with like carb cleaner and also if i can unscrew that sensor in the transfer case to clean it..And if thats what they mean by cleaning it.And will any fluid run out when i take the sensor out...
uh electric connection ?? use contact cleaner,-the use dielectric grease and plug r in-don't think ya got to remove it to clean it-sensor on transfer case has to do with cruise control??what year is it???
The sensor that controls the cruise is in the rear diff, not the T-case. Not sure what you pulled out, but I'd just wipe it off and stuff it back in there.
yeah my thought too quicklook2-it may melt the plastic-I was going to say brake cleaner?? but then I am not sure-figured contact cleaner was a safe bet!!!--and yeah the vss is on the rear?? don't know what the sensor is he is referring to-haven't found one on mine yet-well mine is older-maybe a push button transfer case-may be his solenoid for the electric transfer case???mine has no wires!!!
In 1996 the VSS in the rear is for ABS, cruise, and the PCM. I don't think my 95 has a sensor on the transfer case...my other 95 does but it's for push button 4x4, which F-250's don't have. Are you sure it's not on the tailhousing of the transmission?
Careful with brake clean too. Some isn't safe for all plastics. Some will say wether they're safe or not.
I'm sure there is a sensor on the tranfercase..I just cleaned it off and put it back on so i have no problems..I just have to hunt down this cruise control problem..It really bothers me...
