I have a 97 F250 with a 7.3 stroker and i want to swap out the IFS to a solid axle. Can anyone give me any guidance on what to use for axle. Are the any mods required? All tips and guidence greatly appreciated im clueless on suspension!!!!
Gonna look for some links for you. In those years the F350 truck had a dana 60 solid front axle, and it bolts right under your ride. This is a great time to address the shackle problem in these rides, and fix it while lifting it, and bolting up your Dana 60.
This shackle reverse kit is something to consider. Then maybe some Super Duty springs, and a donor dana 60, and you are rolling. http://www.sky-manufacturing.com/
I also have a 97 F250, I just got my hands on a Dana 60 with King pins, all I have to do is put different gears in it (to match my rear end) and go through it to make sure all bearings and etc are in good shape and I will be doing the swap within a couple weeks probably. I can't wait to get it on the road, hopefully I will be able to put some pics of it up.

Couple of things come to mind, and these are brought up by questioning which year front axle this really is. THe dana 60 king pin was available from a late 70's truck will have a narrower spring perch measurement than you need. While this will still work, the pass side perch will have to be moved, and a driver side perch will have to be added. Not a big deal. If you have an 80's front axle the spring perches will line right up, and this is a closer to bolt up deal, however, both of these axles steer from the driver side, and do not have the provisions for the inverted "t" style steering that is required. You truck runs an inverted "Y" design now, and is not the desired method for your straight axle truck.
May look into exactly how you are going to address the steering on this before you jump in with both feet.
Will be a nice swap though.
True crossover is real easy at this point (with minimal lift)
The one I got, I was told, is out of a truck the same body style as mine. I will for sure look into the steering aspect before I start tearing things apart. Thanks for the input!
