I had a tech come out and try to diagnose my skipping, some injectors not firing problem and he could not get any codes off the OBD2 for some reason. The check engine light was on and it asked if he wanted to turn it off, but no cedes did it show. When the engine first suddenly started skipping badly the "service engine soon" light came on. This guy works on all kinds of diesels and had a standard issue hand held orange reader. He tried to find a 6 or 9 pin hookup for a better reader he had but could not find any. Does anyone know if there is a 9 or 6 pin receptacle on this truck?

Apparently he doesn't work on that many diesels. What you described there is a generic OBD-II scanner that is found at Autozone, Napa, Pep Boys, etc. Those scanners do not work on our trucks. The Powerstrokes use the standard OBD-II connection, but not the standard codes, which is why the reader your guy was using could not pull codes from the PCM.
