The 95 Ranger is one of the "transition vehicles" from EEC-IV to EEC-V. My Ranger is OBD-II and EEC-V, however the pin population on the test module is not OBD-II compliant, and the scan tools I can find will not work with this vehicle. The "Check Engine" light will go out if I reset it, however after 1 start it comes back on. I do not know any codes, however I suspect the 02 sensor. Any suggestions or comments? Thanks.
Rockledge,
Thanks for the reply. My connector is OBD II type, however my connector has pin 13 populated instead of pin 15. So far, all of the readers I have found specifically state 1996 or later, and some even indicate will not work on the 95 Ranger. Will the scanner on the autotap website work on this vehicle?
I'm really not sure which scanner will work with your system. But someone else with a '95 Ranger must have run into this problem before and figured it out...anyone out there know about this?
I have a '95 Ranger, didn't ran into the problem. Went to Autozone and used the Reader they have, fitted perfectly and no problem. Remember that the standard on OBD II is that ALL vehicles must have the same connector. So all the readers for OBD II will work in the '95 up Rangers.
