VCP replacement
<TABLE><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top width="100%">I've installed the Pioneer AVIC-D3 navigation/audio/video system in my 99 expedition which is a double DIN install. Mine originally had the stock MACH system in it. The installation wasn't to tuff to do, it took some trimming of the stock stereo mounting bracket, a nonstructural section of the dash behind the radio had to be cut out, and had to slightly trim out the radio face plate bezel to make everything fit, but other than that it turned out real well.
In addition I've added the Pioneer PDX-P686 which is their 6 disk changer, which mounts real well in the same location as the stock changer, there again with some slight modifications to the stock bracket, I've also added the Pioneer CD-BTB200 Bluetooth wireless adapter for hands free cell phone operation, the Pioneer GEX-P920XM which is the XM satillite radio tuner, and the Pioneer TV tuner (which I'm not sure if they make any more but I had from a previous install) all of which are mounted under the center console (there's an amazing amount of room under there) I've also added a Q-logic video screen that mounts on the back of the center console, and the last option I installed is the Pioneer ND-PC20PA rear view camera.
This is an awsome system and if you're considering something for your vehicle, I highly recommend the Pioneer systems because they're so adaptible for the features you may or may not want to have for your system. You can view the Pioneer stuff at this link. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/Navigation
Speaker wise I'm still running the stock speakers and subwoofer, They sound real well with this system.
As far as installation, I've got quite a bit of experiance with car audio system installation so I didn't feel if was difficult at all, however it was time consuming. If you have little, or no experiance I highly recommend you have a professional installer do it for you. As far as cost with all the componants and everything I've probably got around $2000 to $2500 in to it. Also if you are considering this, here's a good site to give you guidance on the wiring. http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/caraudio.asp Here's some photo's of my system and install. Let me know if you have any questions.
