Wanting to completely flush the powersteering pump. I understand that you open the cap and add fluid while the truck is running and turning the wheels. What I am confused about, is which line do you detach and collect old fluid from which port.
Here is the diagram of the system; maybe someone can explain. Also, which hose is it that commonly breaks?
The pic you have isn't the same as what your truck has. Thats a truck equipped with hydroboost brake booster. but anyway the line you want is the all rubber line that goes in a nipple on the pump. It just has a hose clamp on it. that is the return line. you will need to plug the nipple or the reservior will just drain out there.

How is that possible when it shows the 7.3L having a hydroboost brake booster in the service manual?
Hydro boost uses pressure from the power steering pump while a regular brake booster uses vacuum. Both do the same job, the hydro is stronger and is often an upgrade for the OBS trucks. But stock an OBS comes with a vacuum brake booster. #5 is the hydro booster in the diagram

So is that the line that needs to be replaced? or the one you drain from? That's the one on the bottom of the pump correct? What to plug the reservoir with?
