I did a search but couldn't find anything. I thought someone had, had problems with there's before. If so, can someone post a link plz. If not here's my ?
Is there a way to check to make sure they are working?
We had a small snow fall Thursday and snow/little ice collected on my driver's mirror to the point of not being able to see. We got it parked and neither mirror felt warm at all. I check/pulled the fuse. After reinstalling it. They seem'd to work fine. CLear'd right up.
Today we have a ton of humidity and lot's of moisture on both driver's/passenger mirrors. I had to drive into town to get our dog from the vet's. No less then a 8mile 1way drive. Got home after picking the dog up/kids dropped off at school. Still have a ton of water build up on the mirrors. Usually the heat helps clear them. Nor did either one feel warm to the touch.
I'm still underwarranty but i'd rather see if there's something silly i can do, kinda like my rear windshield washer problem that got fixed.
You do realize that the mirror heaters are off the same switch as the rear window defroster, don't you. When you turn on the rear glass defroster, the mirrors come on also. At least that's the way my '05 Limited works.
when the mirrors are on, they still are not warm to the touch, but I have noticed over time that once turned on, it takes less then 3 or 4 minutes for them to clear off any snow or fog
good luck

Hmmm according to the book they should alway's be on.
Went outside cause it sleeted last night, started the truck flipped the backglass switch and walaw mirror's melted.
Wonder who prints that manuals for ford. I'm guessing monkey's.
Thnx for the info. Like my first post. I figured it was something as easy as a switch.
And that's why i come to this site before even talkin to any Stealer's...

Now that the mirror issue is resolved, the really important question from a fellow dog owner...
For all those that say here is what the manual in my '05 page 67 states...
"Heated outside mirrors (if equipped)
The main mirror glass is heated automatically to remove ice, mist and fog and activates when the vehicle is started.
Note: The mirrors may be hot to the touch but will not burn. This is a
normal condition.
Type A
The mirror heating elements aredesigned to operate regardless of the geographic location of the vehicle. There is no switch to turn on, or other operator involvement required other than to start the
vehicle."
Glad you figured it out...apparently reading the F'ing manual didn't help you this time...
Our other vehicle has heated mirrors that are tied to the rear defrost...the Ex manual led ME to believe they were ON all the time...and NO OPERATOR INVOLVEMENT REQUIRED! Apparently the F-ing manual is WRONG?
Joe.
