Water pump

The water pump on my 69 started leaking very badly today on the way home. I think it is the gasket between it and the front housing as near as I can tell. Somebody along the way put a 460 in this truck. I haven't been able to find the casting numbers on this motor yet, (too much rust and crud I think). Are all 460 water pumps the same or did they change them somewhere along the line. Thanks alot, Mike

From my experience, which isnt much, lol. Usually starts leaking right under the pulley when it starts to fail. Theres a little hole there. See if its leaking out of there first. If it is leaking out of the hole then your waterpump is bad. Next I found an Edelbrock Victor Series water pump made to fit a '70-'92 429/460 BB Ford. Part #350-8866 at www.jegs.com . Im assuming that your engine falls into these dates.

I'm not big on the 460, but I'd about bet they are pretty much all the same, other then maybe reverse rotation late model stuff? Pick something back in the 70's and you're probably okay.
