I know you fellas are true leafs fans at heart, theres no reason to deny it!
NEVER!!! I would rather be a Habs fan. The only backing Toronto got from me was when the Jays won the World Series. And that was only by Canadian default.
Well, it's like they think they are the center of the universe. TSN, for example. Toronto Sports Network. Every lead story has to do with the Leafs, Raptors, Argos, or Jays. The only lead stories Vancouver ever got on TSN was the Stanley Cup Riot, and Bertuzzi's hit on Moore. Roger's Sportsnet has an eastern bias. Sportsnet Pacific isn't even available in HD.
Not that I hate Toronto, I just don't like it as much as, say, Calgary. Or Halifax even.
I know what ya mean, i hear alot of people complain about that. Its nice for me being a leafs fan cause i always get to hear and know whats going on with them. I guess they have been around for along time and have acquired tons of fans, which is why they show them so much, but I can see your side of it too.
On the same note I always end up switching the channel when they start blabbering about the raptors, argos or jays.
You can watch the Leafs and then switch channels when the Jays come on....
Now you`re really starting to worry me.....
Mind you I have no interest in the Raptors or Argo either.
The Vancouver Canucks foreign scout flies to Baghdad to watch a young
Iraqi play hockey in the new American sponsored league. He is suitably
impressed and arranges for him to come over to Canada.
Dave Nonis signs him to a one year contract and the kid joins the team
for the preseason.
Two weeks later the Canucks are down 4-0 to the Blackhawks with only 10
minutes left. Alain Vigneault gives the young Iraqi the nod and he goes in.
The kid is a sensation - scores 5 goals in 10 minutes and wins the game
for the Canucks!
The fans are delighted, the players and coaches are
delighted, and the media love the new star.
When the player comes off the ice, he phones his mom to tell her about
his first day of NHL hockey.
'Hello mom, guess what?' he says in his thick Iraqi
accent. 'I played for 10 minutes today, we were 4-0 down, but I scored
5 goals and we won. Everybody loves me, the fans, the media, they all
love me.'
'Wonderful,' says his mom, 'Let me tell you about my day. Your father
got shot in the street and robbed, your sister and I were ambushed, raped
and beaten, and your brother has joined a gang of looters, and all while
you were having such great time.'
The young Iraqi is very upset. 'What can I say mom, but I'm so sorry.'
'Sorry? You're sorry?' says his mom, 'It's your fault we moved to
Surrey in the first place!'
