How hard is it to remove the fuel pump off a john deere 5310? Why I ask I'm looking at buying a 2000 model that is super clean with a good price on it. The stealer tells me the machine has a very small fuel leak at the fuel pump. Their mechanic told him either a bolt has came lose or lost, and its a pain in the butt to get to it. The price on this machine makes me question these statements. Seems to me that it would be rather hard to make anything very hard to get to on a tractor. You might have to move something but its not like having to work in an engine compartment on a truck. Anyway they are selling this machine $5000 cheaper than the cheapest model on tractorhouse w/ out a loader and this one has a loader.
I watched a salesman use the tractor to load a scoupe on to a trailer for a customer. I went over to where the tractor was parked and looked under it. I did,nt see any fuel on the tractor or ground nor did I smell any. I went over to the trailer and where the scoupe was and could'nt find any there either. So the leak is'nt pouring out fuel. Any ideas?
I suspect it is cheaper because it probably needs an injector pump. They are not inexpensive and you have to really know what you are doing to install and time one. They can be rebuilt.

I've been searchingthe net on this topic and I've seen mentioned a few times {timing the injector pump}. In all places it says to go to stealership. I cant find any "How tos" on doing this job. I'm coming to the conclusion that its best if I leave this one alone.
John Deere is very good with their repair manuals, look one up and see if it is listed. You don't want a basic maintenance manual you want the comprehensive repair manual.

I looked for a online repair manual. All I could find where retail books. I'mnot spending $200 for a machine I might not buy. Now if I buy it I will get a book.
