Mine does the same thing, its in the teens here at night, i don't have it plugged in and i cannot get the high idle to work. It did last year, but i have noticed one thing, with my park brake set my park brake light does not come on the dash. I wonder if it's not registering to teh computer that my brake is set?? I guess there is a sensor that might have gone bad by the pedal??
I pulled the air cleaner today and found some dirt on the air temp sensor. I tapped the dirt off with my finger and then this morning the engine idled up normally, so I'm assuming the sensor may be bad. Autozone carries the sensor for about $15.00 so it's worth the cost to install a new sensor.
Ford 79 is right because i unhooked mine when i put the bigger air filter on and it wouldn't idle up until i hooked it back up. Another thing is since i put the dp tuner in on any level but stock it won't idle up.

If the light isnt coming on, the computer isnt seeing the brake set. There's just a simple little tab that grounds out when you push the pedal down. Its basically like a door switch for the interior light. Some wd-40 should clean it up. Look up near the rubber bumper the pedal hits when you release the brake.

Since it idled up, the sensor is still working. The dirt was probably keeping it a little bit warmer and not letting it sense the real temp. If you touch the sensor while the idle is up, it drops almost instaly due to the warmth of your fingers.
we'' I finaly got the sensor from the zone and it is not an exact replacmet. It mounts differently and you need to install a new style plug for the unit. I installed it anyway and it did not make any differance. It still will not idle up when cold. The ebpv is closing, but no high idle. Guess I'll keep looking :-(
Is your truck auto or manual? If its manual, check that the brake light on the dash turns on when you set the parking brake. If it doesnt, the pcm wont see it as being set and wont idle up.
