Cummins swap...

The motor in my 7.3L is getting some miles on it. Not too bad, but i am sure at some point in the near futre i will have to do somthing major. Might be a good oppurtunity to do a motor swap. Anybody got some information on doin the swap and how big a deal it is. Thanks.

Not just Cummins, but a perhaps a Cat motor if they have something that would work.

This will get you started. Read their FAQ section. http://www.destroked.com/

I think the cat motors are a bit to heavy IIRC. It's been brought up before. A cummins transplant will be a safe alternative and inexpensive to mod. Imagine being able to buy a set of sticks for under 600 dollars.

Just do it when the time comes. I would have, but my engine is not tired enough yet. I see a CTD in my truck someday as I am never buying another one. I am old enough to say that now.

Today I picked up a 2003 Dodge 2500 CTD. Boy the truck is JUNK, but it's the motor I'm after.

I CAN'T WAIT....

$10,000 would be a steal! It'll cost $7-8K+ to do B-codes, studs, springs, BO, not to mention turbo!!!!

In all honesty, I thought it was $15K minimum, but I could be wrong. $10k would be worth me looking into...

You spend $10,000 on a Cummins swap and you've got yourself an EASY 600 horsepower.

I've got $15k+ in my bottom-end alone with another 15 grand or so tied up on the top of things only to yield 600.

Although the 600 horsepower I roll around with is the MOST reliable 600 horses I'll ever get I'm willing to sacrifice a little reliabilty for a few hundred more.

.

That's not a common rail is it? Or is it? I stopped looking when the wife told me nothing wrong with my engine.

Hmmm, I did some quick looking....Man would it be cool. I'm ready to pull the trigger with mine, but man the numbers are close.

Another problem, I don't know jack about modding the Cummins, other than they make stupid cheap power. How much more would you have to spend to have 500 solid HP? Could mate it up to the BTS!

Wonder what a 2000 7.3 w/ forged rods, fuel system, van turbo, etc. is worth? 160k and ZERO leaks, problems etc.

Says there is a Destroked dealer just north of me in Ohio...I'll have to stop in and chat...
