Superduty x codes

I started to install my X code front springs today. This is by no means a light task. It took me 2 hours just to get the old u bolts apart. It took about 4 hours to get it all completely apart. Now it sits in the shop ready for the new springs in the morning. I need to hit the dealership in the morning and grab a few more parts. I found I am going to need new u bolts, new spring bushings and new bolts for the spring eyes. The superduty eyes are larger than ours. Hopefully the will have what I need in stock.

I still need to remove the rear shackles from my springs to install on the new ones. Any tips for getting those off?

Tons of pics to come when im done.

Steve

600 ft lb Impact wrench held wide open for about 5 minutes. So your doing the reverse shackle by moving the front spring mounts?

i had a set of sd springs that i threw away a while back because i didnt think they would work on my other truck. i guess you would have to do the shackle mod to take up for the length difference?

and use a 2135TI IR impact gun, they come off really quick

Good impact isn't it Joe? I like mine! that TI is very nice when doing FWD alignments tightening and loosening strut to knuckle bolts!!

the SD springs will fit with a reverse shackle and the front mount moved 4 or 5 inch forward which runs into the bumper so you either have to space your bumper out 3 or 4 inchs or knotch it or build a custom bumper.

Yeah the 2135ti claims a 1000 but I've never seen it with 130 PSI and huge quick connects. It rated at 625 forward and 700 reverse. Maybe I should just hook it up to the 1/2 inch hose we use for the 3/4 impact! Get your ear muffs out. Tim's gonna break some bolts!

Measurements and pictures for sure guys. I think I forgot to mention I already had a rsk installed.
I went to sears before I started and picked up a 700ft lb impact gun and it didnt even tickle those ubolt nuts. I sat under there with a breaker bar and a length of black pipe forever turning those things. The shackle bolts I can loosen no problem. Its the bolts themselves I cant get out. The rubber bushings are stuck to them. Maybe i'll try melting the rubber.

I wasn't joking when I said rattle them for a few minutes with the impact is you have an air source that can keep up. and you already have the RSK. Good deal. Is yours the 3 inch or 5inch?
