Very cool. That is one of the best days ever, the first cruise. Oh the excitement. But, lo and behold, there will be many more to come with each addition or improvement. Congratulations.
I took the first ride in my 56 last night. It has a volare front suspension and a 472 Cadillac engine with a Dodge car rearend. It drives great and has plenty of power. I hope to drive it some more tomorrow . I should be able to start driving it every day next week. I have some bare metal on one front fender and some bare spots on the cab to deal with. I also need to install the hood but I have no hinges. I had planned from the start to make a forward tilt hood so I will probably spend tomorrow and the next day trying to do that.
Another one bites the dust & another ones gone & another ones gone, another one bites the dust!
Donald, you & I talked at the Lake Lure show in 2006. I had hoped to drive mine to the 2007 show but obviously didn't quite make it.I did go to the show , though. My daughter goes to UNCW Wilmington which is a 5 hour drive from here , so eventually I will make the trip in my truck . It is all interstate driving , ( I-40). I have cruise control on my truck & plan to put in a radio/cd player in the near future. I will take some Clapton , Seger, Jackson Browne , etc and hit the road.I plan to start my gallery with some pictures of the truck soon. Happy motoring to you n' yourn. Tom
I put a few more miles on it yesterday (Saturday). I had one minor problem. Since confession is good for the soul let me fees up to what I did (or didn't do).I had connected the trans cooler lines together at the trans with a short piece of hose as a temporary fix until I mount a cooler in front of the radiator. One end of the hose didn't get a clamp on it and come off. I lost about 5 quarts of fluid and the trans quit pulling. After putting the line back on , with a clamp , and refilling with fluid all seems well now.Thanks.
Congrats! i'm really jealous. That first ride must be great and nerve racking at the same time. My cruise is still down the road , but i can hardly wait. Piece by piece, but i will get there. Painters comin for the cab next week.
