Hi
I'll be buying a 52 1/2 ton Ford running with a decent cab but no box for 1000 bucks.
Anyways I'm in Canada where it has been cold for alittle while -30 Celsius without the wind everyday. Not sure what that is in Fareinhiet but its cold.
Anyways the seller who i trust is offering to start it caiuse the motor is the best thing about the truck. I'm just wondering is it worth starting a truck with summer oil if by doing this I may be hurting the motor.
Just wondering if you have any thoughts. It would be nice to hear it but would it be hurting the motor?
why not disconnect the fuel line and run it into a can , and take the coil wire{s} off and spin it over with no power so its not under any load ? then put it all abck together and fire it up . my 53 has been doing a lot of sitting around here with windsheilds in the negative double digits at times and no problems atarting up or going bang with rottella in the crankcase . i just let it sit and idle for a real long time before i put any stress on her .
I wouldn't be afraid to start it. My daily driver 48 gets that abuse all the time without problems. I use the same oil winter and summer fwiw. I just wouldn't rap it out to max rpms until it's fully warm - probably sometime in April
Sounds like a great deal with a good flathead - and if it'll start in those temps, go for it!
Just to let everone know
I got it!
I really do have a problem now I have 6 old Fords/Mercs with 239's.
