Automatic Ignition Starter
I just purchased a used 2002 F-250 PSD and it came with a Bulldog Security ignition starter installed. Its very warm where i live and when using this device during the day to start the truck it fires right up. However, in the early morning when its much colder, it takes two attempts with the device.
Im assuming this has to do with the glow plugs not yet 'on' which is why it does not sometimes start on the first attempt. My question is whether or not im hurting the truck by starting it at any time with this automatic starter, hot or cold, without the glow plugs being activated..??
Thanks

Check with Bulldog, there should be a setting to change it to "Diesel" set-up. I am going to install a Clifford SRS3 soon that I took out of a gas vehicle, it says I can use it with the Diesel and has a 20 second delay- though I don't know how to change this setting yet.

I have a security system with the remote start on it and it works with the glow plugs, I also have this problem and I had to seat inside my truck and try to see what was happening....it waits until the glow plug turns off to attemt to start, and in the mornings it takes a little longer to start and when the engine it's turning over all my lights come on, abs, oil, low fuel, and sometimes the glow plug light which tells the system that the truck is not ready to start and it shuts it off...do I make sense????
