My 78 has a flatbed on it now check my gallery, the bed measures 8 foot 7 inches im thinking my truck would be a 8 ft bed if it was stock my question is did ford make a step side bed in the 8 ft lenght.
here is a pic of the one I had- it was trash and i ended up throwing it away. The truck now has a normal bed on it....A buddy of mine MADE a bed, the lines on these old stepside are straight as arrow, would be rather easy for anybody who could weld a little to make one that looked good. Only thing you would need is fenders, he made his out of fiberglass.
Phatkat, that is one of the nicer looking flatbeds I've seen in awhile - I would hold on to it in case you want it on another truck someday. Your wheelbase will be on your ID plate on your driver's door, or measure it to be sure. And welcome!
ford made an 8 foot bed for the first few years of this body style. They are VERY hard to find. I have been looking for over a year. Shouldn't be too hard to fab one up. I just don't have the skill or time to figure it out.
I owned a 61 f250 for about two years that had one of these rare beds but it was uggggly! It just doesn't look as good as the short flareside. I have often wondered what one would look like widened out to fit over the wheels of a dually. You would have to make a tailgate. Just a thought.
