Like all the options Ford offered .Theres no rime or reason from what I've found as to why some trks have certain options. There were certain option groups that could be ordered that meant you got certain things in the package.Like the security group where the trk got the hood lock, glove dr lock etc...Many options seemed "ala-carte'' like those tie dwns on ur trk>I talked to a guy that had a F150 cutom. He only wanted AC,c-6 and the lighted pass vanity that the wife wanted.Go figure
My 1979 is a custom but for some reason has alot of options:
exterior:
tow hooks
racetrack molding chrome on the winshield gasket
10 slot wheels
bed hooks
chrome on tailgate
front bumper has bumper guards
factory sway bars both axles
deluxe rear spare tire carrier
rear chrome bumper, not the step side typen not sure what to call it
Interior:
nice headliner padded
carpet padded steering wheel
delay wipers
rear sliding window
chrome trim to hold up headliner
under dash courtesy lights
hood lock
chrome trim on door panels
Am/FM factory radio with door speakers, good sound for a old radio
clothe/vynal seat
These must have been added to the custom by the dealer? Or did some customs come this way, maybe it was ordered this way ??

These trks are 27+ years old so it also could of been a previous owner or owners doing aswell
27+ years ago, vehicles could be custom-ordered in ways unheard of today. Being fresh out of high school with a high-paying oilfield job, I was looking heavily at new trucks back then and it was quite time consuming to sit down and go thru the custom order process - but I wish it was still like that today. Now to get something useful to you, you have to get all the add-on useless garbage that comes with that "convenience" group... arrgh!
