Well said, Rick. I've been finding myself doing what you suggest regarding "looking for low level response threads". Even when I see a "favorite" topic, I more often will now read through and not post anything when I find that others have already stated what I would say. I don't need to hear myself talk, and no one else needs to hear me repeat what 10 others have already stated.

And again, a thread with 200 post must have something good going on that poeple want to talk about. I have seen where the OP recieved the answer, then another great question will pop up and people will try to answer that question. I don't think it hijacking a thread if the OP has his answer. Then you can throw in the play/fun factor.
Soooo... where did the OP get to? 23 replies to this thread he started and not one from him in over a day. Sorry sometimes I just can't help myself!
I guess we put him in his place. There have been questions that I have posted that have taken time to take off. Don't think of it as the community blowing you off because we are not. I know that some people are not into the fourm thing (49 posts in 3 years), but there are alot of great people here that will help anyone, but might do more for people that they have talked to in the past or that they see helping others on a regular basis.
It gets a little tough trying to help people though their problem when the post up things like ford sucks and bashing other stuff like that. Personally, I am more willing to spend the time and help someone out with their problem if they are polite and not coming in with a hot head.

Thanks Pete. With almost 1,000 views, people will understand how and why this is like it is. I still think this is a great thread.
I usually look for similiar problems or intersts in the threads. Either I need the info or it is something I can help with because of a smiliar experience. I cannot help you with an ABS swap, thus no reply.
Sometimes I wonder if new vistors to this site think it is an official Ford answer forum. With the web name of ford-trucks.com, assuming you don't do any looking around at all, you could easily think that. Lot's of folks are kind of forum clueless too, like the ones who ask questions in the 2009 F150 forum just because it's at the top of the list.
The OP mentioned a post by fordcontractor. And he had a good point. The guy asked a seemingly simple question - how do you remove the upholstery from the console lid. He posted the question twice IIRC, and I see now that he finally got one reply. Those were the guys only posts and I wonder if he'll be back. I hope so. I didn't know the answer to his question, but I'm pretty sure a bunch of guys here would know. We could have helped a newbie a little more in that instance. I hope he came back to get his info.

Because I'm a moderator, I monitor the SD forum all the time. I work on the computer, and FTE is just another window to keep an eye on.
That's one of those questions where I can see it getting almost no answers. No one has done it. Or almost no one.
I've never heard of someone removing the upholstery from the console. It was usually "how do I remove the lid" or "how do I remove the entire seat" or "I removed the console and replaced it with XXX".
And the few who have done it probably check out the site only once a week or two. With the number of posts on the SD forum, it's no wonder they don't want to go back through the last 10 pages of posts
Now the real question is, did the OP find out and report back to us? That way we'd all know

I never thought of the "official Ford" aspect, or lack thereof, of this site...
That's a good point.

OFFICIAL (personal) statment - I don't mind people bumping their own threads to get people to see them. Once a day is fine, if you're not getting any answers. This doesn't go for ryaneverk2 or any Super Mod or Admins. I don't mind. I don't think anyone else will either, but you never know. Good luck!
* Note from ryaneverk2... that goes for me, too. I don't mind, either, within reason.

From personal experience, I've driven Ford trucks since - well it's been a long time. I've been a PC jockey for about 20 years. I had no idea there was such a wealth of info at a place like this until a couple of years ago (how long has this site been up anyway?).
I found it by searching "FORD TRUCKS". Right now, Yahoo puts this site at about #6, and Google puts it at #1, of non-sponsoring sites, using those search words. I'm sure I am not the first to find it that way. It's an easy jump to mistake this for an official Ford site.
Bill, I agree with you - that is exactly how I found this site. Top link after googling ford trucks. I think that is a testament to the great quality of this site. If you google chevy truck, there isn't a single forum on page one of googles search. When I first came in here it took me awhile to realize it wasn't a ford website (per se).

I've been on here since 2001 just lurking, joined in 2002, and became a moderator in 2006. Dang I'm getting old.
This site's been around since I think pre-1999, and was an email mailing list before that. I think the earliest it was around was maybe 1997 or earlier?
I have learned alot of very useful info here, and I have passed this info onto at least 2 other buddies with 6.0's who have just recently joined. That is why I also became a supporter! Heck you could pay off the membership just in oil filter savings alone! I'm addicted to this place, I find myself waking up early for work and say Hmm... I can hop on FTE for a few minutes! Yeah, I know, I'm a loser!
