Yeah, like I said earlier, it is me whining, but I can't believe that I have to listen to crap from a "posting Guru" because I stated both my opinion and some facts, while it took several days and several posts to get an answer to a real question.

Molotov, it's not just you and it's not because you aren't a supporter. Maybe nobody has anything to say, maybe the folks who read your post don't feel qualified to comment, maybe it's your deodorant....(read my linked post before you take offense)
This is one I posted that's a "real question" that I didn't get a response to. No big deal. I think I did a decent job of describing the situation and what I was trying to accomplish, asked for any input or comments, still I got nothing. I'm planning on doing it as I describe, maybe it will help someone else down the road....
I might say something like- somebody needs a nap, or something silly but not to hurt/ **** somebody off, just to subscribe to the thread if its a good question, and get a chuckle. You can't be serious ALL the time! Its like Johnny567 said, I can check back later and maybe learn something new, and maybe give the thread a bump at the same time. Hope this made sense to someone other than me
molotov, so you have 49 posts in four years. I'm not saying you haven't contributed any information to the forums, but you could definitely do more. Some people get on here asking for help with their problems, but don't want to bother posting information to help others with their own problems. I'll be the first to admit I don't know much about many areas on these trucks, and therefore don't bother with my input on those questions. But when something comes up that I do have personal experience in, then I give any information I can to help the person out.
If everyone on here posts questions for themselves, but do not help others, then no one gets the answers they need. Don't be greedy.

I think this thread is turning out to be and educational thread. If people read this and understand why some get 200 post and some get 3 post. I look for the small number post to see what is going on with that thread. Lots of time the question has been answered and so the thread will die. How many right answers do you need in one thread. And again, a thread with 200 post must have something good going on that poeple want to talk about. I have seen where the OP recieved the answer, then another great question will pop up and people will try to answer that question. I don't think it hijacking a thread if the OP has his answer. Then you can throw in the play/fun factor.
The old saying "if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem" comes to mind. If you have a problem with the speed in which questions get answered, are you making an effort to try and help someone else with the more obscure questions?
Well I for one think the OP has a point. I.e., if you think of FTE as an "answer box" where you pose a question and get your answer, then there will certainly be some disappointing times, in that you'll either get the wrong answer, or no answer.
When you think about it though, that's not really what FTE is. It just a bunch of guys BS'ing about trucks. Sometimes they can help, sometimes they can't. And in fact, certain people can help a lot more than others. Cut it any way you want to though, it looks to me like the regulars are mainly here for the comraderie.
Another point. This forum seems to have grown phenomenally just in the last year, and most people just don't have the time to read all the threads, much less reply to them. All you can do is pick a few in your areas of interest and follow them.
I think the idea that FTE is an "answer box" is a fundamentally flawed premise. The technical answers just happen to come with the jawing......

First, you're talking about something that's VERY specific to the 6.0L Diesel. As in, it should be in the diesel forum. But seeing that it was SD related, I left it there. My mistake. I should have just punted it into the 6.0L forum, but some people find that's rude.
Second, that's a VERY long winded way of explaining what's going on, and if anyone has the time to even read part of that, you're not going to get your answers by putting them all the way at the end.
Seriously, this should have been posted in the 6.0 section, you'd have gotten more replies than you know what to do with.
Many of the diesel people (rightfully) don't visit the SD forum as much as their own engine's forum. That goes for the V10'ers too. Too much in-fighting
Next time you want to write a dissertation on what appears to be oiling modifications for a 6.0, you might want to post it in the 6.0 forum ...
I remember thinking when I read that post, "hopefully the regulars will point him in the right direction".
I did post in the 6.0 forum, just linked it though rather than cut and paste it. I also linked it in the New England Chapter forum... No replies but like I said, no big deal.
Yes it was "wordy" but I said that right up front. I tried to lay it all out clearly so everyone would understand in detail.
I've asked a question before that got what, 2 replies, after I bumped it myeslf? I don't tend to ask really mechanical questions, and stay in the non-problem forums a lot so I don't expect these guys to drop their lives and answer my every pissant question. All I needed was one guy to say something and that was enough to fix my problem. I'll admit I lurk more than talk in the diesel fourms, so I don't expect much in the way of rapid assitance for my questions.
You want more respect, give it. Tell the guys who ARE smart and CAN fix your problems thanks, and refer the FNG who's post nobody answers to the smart guys threads/posts that can really help them. Maybe even guide them into searching instead of asking, because 99.9999% of the MPG, Tire Size, lift kit, tuner, frozen lug nut, ect. questions have been debated ad naseum.
I posted pics of my new SD and whole story about my 1100 mile drive from NH to my home in WI and didn't get pages and pages of replies and now I'm pissed.
Oh and I'm kinda new here, but not new to forums. I'm a real smart ***, and will generally answer to the name @$$**** (because it's the only one I hear lately)
I believe it is easier for individuals to jump into a thread when they know something about it. Thus, the bolt on mods are low hanging fruit for everyone. People would not visit the forum if they did not want to participate.
Troubleshooting and major mods involve alot of experience, or willingness to gain some in the process. This limits the forum users available to provide reliable feedback.
The other aspect [you'all will flame me for this, but think about it] is the doers are doing just that, they are busy fixin and modifying trucks. Which means they are not on the forum daily or probably weekly at that. So that narrows down the availablility for individuals to respond to requests.
Personally I's bolt on mod guy, so I really have to have a idea of what you need to post a response to help you.
