I am curious also to know whatever works for you, since our symptoms are so similar! I have tried just about everything, gotta re-check fuses in the morning, hopefully the snow won't be tooooo bad tonight
Good morning everybody, it didn't snow but we had a frost night here in otherwise sunny St. Augustine. Anyway, the batteries are charged and I cranked and...-no fire! I took the fuel filter out and there was no fuel. The stream of diesel that I've seen yesterday might have come out of the bowl, I don't know. So, with the filter out, I run the pump in WTS about ten times and no diesel coming out. I could hear the pump runing, loud and clear, each time for about 10-15 sec. Back to the gas station and got another five gal. and put them in (should be about 13 gal. in the tank!) -still nothing. Than I put a bit of diesel in the bowl to check for air bubbles like yesterday and although I could hear the pump working, there were no bubbles or diesel coming out the line. Can it be that the pump is gone, even when it's turning? I'm running a little out of patience here, it's the third day working on it and I need that truck... Some ideas? Thanks -Sven
well at this point I would say you either have a clogged line or bad pump
if you have a shortbed truck 13 gal should give you a half tank and I think that is enough to prime it
just my oppinion but what I would try is take line lose from rear of pump
I think a hose will slip over the fitting
I would the run a piece of hose from rear of pump to a can of fuel and see if it will pick it up

If it picks up fuel out of the container you might try sticking a blow gun off a compressor in the line going back to the tank (not too much psi) to clear any obstruction that might be on the screen on your pick up tube. If it turns out to just be a priming issue you can use the blow gun with a rag wrapped around it in the fill neck (agian low psi) when the pump is still disconnected to get fuel up in the lines. Might be a little messy this way.

IT'S ALIVE!!! I disconnected the line from the pump to the filter and run the pump and had fuel shooting out with a lot of pressure. Than checked the line again and turns out, as I reassembled the line the last time (I took the brass fitting of and left the quick coupling connected to it), I must have gotten something in it and it stucked. Blew it out and put it back together -pressure built up and she fired! It was awful for a while but I got her running!
The result: If I would just have filled her up and left the fuel system alone, it would have all been fine. Instead I wasted a lot of time, busted knuckles and some money! But again, thanks to all of you, especially for the quick response. You were very helpful and I hope I can return a favor in the future if you need it. God bless -Sven
I think you just didn't have enough prime and pulling the line made it much easier to prime. Unless you actually saw something in the line. Without the in-tank mods, these things are a bear to get primed without a fairly full tank.
