I have a '01 F-250 with a vibration when on the throttle but quits when I let off. Have taken it to a local shop but nobody else seems to notice it. Figured you guys might be able to help. Thanks
I would start checking all your Ujoints in the driveshafts , the carrier bearing . Is it bone stock or do you have some modifcations done ( lift ,big tires , exhaust ) ??
Replaced u-joints about a year ago and didn't make a difference. I was thinking carrier bearing also but shop said it was fine. How would you check it, ive never had to change one. It has a little larger tires, 4" exhaust, chip and intake.
I think there is a service bulletin about shimming the carrier bearing to correct a vibration I will see if I can find it. Did you make sure your exhaust isn't hitting anywhere its really tight around the firewall ?
I can't seem to find that info for ya . As far as the carrier bearing goes grab the drive shaft and and try to move it and watch the carrier bearing for movement there should be some but not a lot . To remove the carrier bearing you will remove the driveshafts and the 2 bolts that hold the bearing to the crossmember it is pressed on so you will need a press or a BFHammer to remove and replace.
