I have a 93 Ford bronco and I need some help figuring out how to get the tailgate window down and any help on what might be wrong with it. When I try to let it down either with the key or the switch all it does is go down maybe an inch then stop. I have tried pulling it down by hand while turning the key and it doesn't budge. I took the access panel off to see if there might be some way of getting it down through there and really couldn't see anything that would help. If anybody has any ideas I would really appreciate it.
As far as I know it is shut completely. I pushed on it to make sure that it was. If it wasn't shut completely would it still come down only an inch and stop? I had problems with it for a couple of months where it would start to come up and then it just seemed to die out and I would have to pull on the top of the window to get it up or push on it to get it down. I'm guessing it might be the motor but I don't know how to get to it from the closed position and I can't get the window down to work on it.
Sounds like you need some servicing. Like mentioned above ^^^^^^^^.
I like to keep my Bronco parked under cover as much as possible (at night)
this keeps the glass mechanicals clean and water collecting at the bottom of the tailgate - to keep it from rusting - I am sure you have seen Bronco tailgate rust before.
Ok I'll try that, what exactlly needs to be greased. I noticed when I pulled the access panel off there was a steel plate with some notches in it, almost looks like a gear in a watch, is that what you're talking about?
At the bottom of the glass you will see 2 6" tracks one on either side. The rollers for the regulator arms travel back and forth in these. Because they are on the inside of the glass it's a little hard to get to so unbolt them from the glass pull them out and put some white lithium grease on them. Also get a can a spray silicone and spray the
run channels. These are the channels the glass rides in on the edges.
If you still can't get it or can't find info PM me and I'll see if I can attach my tailgate file.

Well, basically what 80351 stated up above, but I just took a tube of grease and a tarp along with me and used my fingers to smear in the rails and anything that looked like it might move or slide against something else. The tarp kept grease off the carpet.
Keep in mind that this is not a 15 minute job. Bronco windows aren't naturally inclined to slide up and down. As with all good things, patience and repetition will see you through.
