Water in the distributor. Put a little grease around the edge the cap sits on and see if it helps. I've also heard that water sometimes finds it way in through the little vent in the cap, but I wouldn't try plugging that one off.
I have a '92 5.0. In it's life, the dizzy cap's been replaced ONCE, along with rotor, wires, and plugs. NEVER in it's life has ANY amount of rain stalled my truck. It's bone stock, with factory snorkel over the rad, yada yada. I have NEVER found water in the dizzy. My guess would be the coil is getting wet, and tracking. This is relatively common on coils that are aging. They'll strike through the insulation to the core iron, and you may not be able to see it unless you park the truck in a dark place with it idling. Get a plant mister bottle, and spray the coil with just plain water and see if it kills the truck. Mine actually arced to the rubber hose to the brake booster (whodathunkit) when it was wet. All this said, if you find any arcing on the coil, it's going south.
