6.0 tranny

I've got an 03' 6 liter. Just started doing this today.Trans temp. will be normal then all of a sudden peg out to hot and the overdrive on/off on the shifter starts flashing. Then it goes back to normal again, sometimes it stays pegged out. It will do this randomly. It doesn't seem to me to be a temperature problem because it just jumps from normal to pegged out. Thinking maybe a sensor bad?

Sounds like either a bad sensor or the sensor wire shorting out somewhere.

The trans already has an inline filter. But I'm lost as to how that would help with a sensor or wiring problem?
