valve length
can any one tell me what valve length dove heads have ?
I have to replace one exhaust valve and my spare valves are out of
a d3ve head and they are to short.
also what dia. are they?(stock)
any help is appriciated.

How did you get D0VE valves 1970
in a D3VE head 1973.
The reason I ask is because my book has three different lengths of valves listed.

Exh = 5.068 w/ 2.242 - 2.248 diameter head OE 45* angle replacement
Int = 5.275 w/ 1.722 - 1.728 diameter head 30* angle OE replacement

valve length
It appears my eyesite and the ability to comprehend simple tasks is becoming somewhat laboured.
I need a beer and a few hours sleep at night.

Intake valves 429 CJ -SCJ = 5.275 " long with a head diameter of 2.245"
Exhaust valves 429 Cj-SCJ = 5.068" long with a head diameter of 1.725"

hi Skid, don't look at the information Mil1ion posted i think he needs another beer. that info is partly for the 429C.J. and that's not what you asked....... looking in the ford service manual the valve head diameters are ( intake 2.075 - 2.090 ), and the ( exhaust is 1.646 - 1.661 ).. for the base 429/460 engines..... looking in the service manual i don't see anything for the valve lenghts. it's got about any other measurments you would probally need. you might want to know about the valve stem diameter for the 429 is 0.3416 for the intake and the exhaust,, and the 460 0.3423 for intake and 0.3223 for the exhaust. these are for STANDARD SIZE. this info is taken right out of the ford service manual. i don't have any new valves otherwise i could mic. a valve out for you using a set of calipers. hope this gives you some info . hey Skid, disreguard what ( Mil1ion ) says! what he is thalking about is the 429 C.J. ,, and your asking about the 429 / 460 BASE engines right. looking at the ford service manual i don't see anything about the valve lengths but here is the specs on the valve head diameters. for both the 429 7 the 460 intake is 2.075 to 2.090,,, and the exhaust is 1.646 to 1.661. valve stem diameter for the 429 is the same for the intaake and exhaust 0.3416. and for the 460 the intake is 0.3423 and the exhaust is 0.3223. this info is taken out of the ford service manual. hopes this helps ya out some.
