Well.. Lets just say this was one adventure I NEVER want to do again.. Talk about a pita to install.. I started at 6:30pm, was done at 1:30am.. They are the hardest damn things to install.. There are so many points you adjust, that once you adjust one part, 3 others screw it all up.. I went through hell getting my stacks the same height, and angle.. One is 1/8" off, I gave up.. They are tilted forward like a degree.. I notice it because I'm picky.. But damn I just gave up.. Cutting a 5" hole in the bed was a task in itself.. I couldn't find a damn thing in my tools to make the cut.. Finally I had to drill little 1/8" holes in a circle.. Than use a cutting tool to cut it.. Long ........ process..
In the end.. They are in.. I'm not sure if I like them.. It is MUCH louder than I expected.. I assume mainly because they are behind my cab.. Its got this funny drone when you let off the throttle.. Funny, the exhaust is pretty much same setup I had with the old.. 4" System to 6" Tip out the side.. Thinking alot of what I hear is because its behind me now..
However I think they will work tho.. Main reason behind them was the smoke and the noise.. Grant it I love throwing smoke at folks.. But at the same time I don't want to cause an accident nor scare someone into hitting a car because my exhaust is extremely loud at WOT.. Therefore I elected Stacks to get the sound going up instead of right next to someones window with my lift..
They do give one HELLUVA mean look tho :-P
I'll have pics up tomorrow.. I got some installs but no full truck views because I was tired and my battery went dead in my camera.. I'm hitting the sack.. I'm sore as hell..
sounds like a adventure, cant wait to see pics of them installed. but isnt blowing smoke into little car's windows half the fun?
Course.. until they swerve and hit something LOL..
Wasn't so much the smoke.. It was the noise.. My tunes make my truck SO FREAKING loud.. Its so bad you can literally hear it rattling off windows of buildings your driving by..
Storm you are going to run out of things to add to your truck one day. Then it will feel like withdrawals from any other vice. LOL Please post some pix. We want to see.
Wow, 5 hrs? Did you do it yourself? I had 2 buddies helping me, well actually I helped THEM! They're silly like that. We used a 4 3/4" hole saw on a 1/2" drill, even thru the rhinolining it only took @ 5-10 min. Not trying to rub it in. It took us like 2 hrs start to finish with 3 of us. Did I mention that I LOVE my stacks? I even wind down the window a lil so I can hear what others are hearing, the whistling and growling! I think it really sounds good when you shoot the coal to her! Normal driving it sounds good but when I romp on it is when it really puts a smile on my face! Not good for fuel mileage though Lets see some pics!
Glad to hear you got the stacks in. My brother helped me and I would not give up. I just keep messing with them he finally talked me in to just getting them done. I drilled a hole in the center for my 5" hole then used a jig saw with a metal blade to cut the hole out. The next day after some sleep I went out and got them perfect. If you look close in the pictures in my gallery they don't look right in the one from the side and it bothered me till I got it staight. It was easier to get them staight and set right after I had them in and some well needed sleep. I only really get a drone in mine when it is cold out and the EBPV is some what closed. But they are loud but not as loud as my bike. I love the sound.
