I have a broken upper shift collar, Its the part between the wheel and shift collar. The shifter handle has a flange at the bottom that fits into a metal guide on the back of the upper collar. This metal guide is attached with two small flat head screws. This is the actual part that is broken. Does anyone know the name of this part? can it be bought? Is there a diagram?
I think it is called a shift collar. I replaced mine in a 75 f100 4x4 about 7 or 8 years ago. I think ford still sold them then. I bet you can still buy them aftermarket. It was aroung $25 back then. I think I just saw one on ebay. When you change it out, you have to take the bottom connector that the wires go for the turn signal switch apart after you write down where all the wires go to in the connector and feed the wires back up the steering column while removing the switch. You do not have to cut any wires. From what I remember that was the worst part of the job
Yep, thats it. I was able to purchase one from LMC. I hope it has the part I need. The actual upper column part isnt broken, but there is a small metal guide screwed to the back that is broken. Im not sure if its a guide for the shift lock or the gear indicator.
This is the rear of my new upper steering column. There is a samll brass looking slide that screws into this hole and curves across to the other hole. I also need this part. Anyone know how to find it, or even know the name of it?
