Its hard for me to get an idea of the accual size even with the penny next to it. Only things I can think of with a shape like that would be piston rings or a wrist pin snap ring. But both of those would have a lot bigger radius then that penny so I am not sure about it, line them up like they are making a true radius so we can get an idea of what the accual radius is of what it came from.
The last time this happened it was peices from the turbo. What he found was piece number 2.

This time it appears to be from a different area.
That's the thread I was thinking about -- totally different part here, but it's definitely not a piston ring. Way too small. That's what I meant by "not that important"... I'm thinking something fell down in the oil pan when he was working on the turbo & pedastal. If nothing seems Abby Normal, then just press on. I'll bet the rest of it will show up in the next oil change or two.

Man, I wish I had a stock turbo to pull apart. Just from the pictures, my two pieces do look similar to the outer radius area of piece #2 if it were still flat. Does anyone know the radius or diameter of Piece #2.
If you put my 2 pieces together the outer DIAMETER is real close to the outer DIAMETER of the penny...about 3/4" (DIAMETER or 3/8" RADIUS).
Are both sides of those pieces completely flat, like in the photo? If both sides are flat, I don't think it could have come from the turbo's thrust bearing. The piece I found was very small:
I'm wondering if it's not a piece from inside the pedistal. When you gutted your EBPV, what did you do with all of the actuating stuff in the pedistal?
