Actually, it was Macs antique auto parts. I was very dissapointed, especially because their cataloge had so many parts listed. Maybe, just maybe, I happened to get a bad salesperson, or just got unlucky, but I know that I will never shop there again unless it is an absolute last resort, and if I do I will ask to order from a manager or someone who actually knows what they are doing. Ya vell, whacha gonna do....

Could one of the lifters be wedged in the bore hole? Also, if the cam is in the open possition on one of the lobes, that would cause the open condition as well.

Just a few other things to look to in your diagnosis of this probelm... --Mike

Check the travel of the piston in the lifter. externally a 302 lifter and a FE lifter are identical, but the FE lifter has about .2" more travel before bottoming.

Would anybody happen to have the exact length of travel for a 352 lifter? Or, is there an easy way to measure it? Actually, does anyone happen to know what the length from the top of the lifter to the bottom of the stroke (with plunger removed) to check? That way, I could pinpoint my problem. You guys are super helpful, Thanks so much
Garrett

1.447"

You might want to compare to the lifters you already have.

Thanks for the help Hypoid. Quick question: Where do you find this information? Is there a book or manual or somewhere on the internet where info on things like lifter stroke and other obscure things like that are? I would love to get a book with all these types of things in it. Again thanks
Garrett

Actually I made that up...sorta. After thinking about it, I did not like referencing from the top. I have read that different brands may be different lengths?

So, to give you some real numbers for comparison, the shell measured 2" overall.

With the two parts of the plunger installed and bottomed out I measured 0.627" to the top of the shell. HTH
