i have a 95 F150 4x4, and the other day, at the worst time, I found out my 4low wont engauge, its the push button type. I have manual locking hubs. When i press the 4-Hi i can hear it click into 4X4 and both lights turn on, but nothing happens when i press 4-Low Range. Whys it doing this? and how can i fix it?
Did you put everything in neutral - 4hi, neutral (tranny), then 4lo?
Just checking.
I was thinking the same thing. Have it in 4Hi, then put the tranny in neutral and press the brake and put it in 4 Lo.....
Not saying you didn't do this, but it's worth a try if not.
You might want to put it in reverse and back up a foot before putting it into neutral to remove any binding tension on the driveshafts. I've always had to do this. It's whats recomended for the Explorers with push button 4wd.
well i would stop completely and put it in park and go straight into 4-low. or i would stop in drive and go to 4-low... it works for 4 hi.. ok ill try the nutral and then press it.. and also with the reverse.. i know in a chev of ours with the manual 4x4, u have to stop put in 4x4 back up, go forward, back up, go forwadr like 4 or 5 times till it kicks in...
haha thanks for the help, i got it to work... before when i first got my truck i just put my truck in park and it locked in 4low... but thanks for the help and i'm glad it works... haha
