All right boys I talked my dad into getting gauges tonight. Another step closer to getting the Dp tuner
My question is this I want to get a 4 gauge pod holder instead of the 3 pods but right now I am only buying 3 gauges. Is there a way to fill the 4 hole for right now while I am not using it. Also these are the gauges I want to get are these good accurate gauges. I am going 35 Boost, Pyro, and trans. http://www.puredieselpower.com/catal...-22_25_59.html
Thanks
Nick
I just installed a set of the Optix gauges in my work truck, only convincing dad that we needed them because sometimes we pull over 20K pounds and that's forsure working the truck. I love them, and really want to upgrade to the optix gauges in My truck!
Nick-Go with the Dipricol's, I love them. Only one note on the wiring that you may have seen in my recent posts. Make sure you combine the ignition wires together and run them to ignition and then the illumination wires together to your headlight switch. Lastly, connect all of your grounds together to a good ground. Should see my pics for grounding location. See below.
As for the fourth hole in the pod:
Just tell your dad it's easier to install now rather than later. That's the truth actually. You will have to be skilled at fishing to get the tuner wire up, or unsnap your pillar from the post to gain access, creating all the more opportunity to mess it up.
Grounding location I used (as viewed from afar)
Close up (see the ground on the left with the yellow round connector?)
Dash light illumination power from afar
and close up (notice the red wire-gauge wire that is spliced to the illumination wire-blue with red stripe)
Lastly, here's the final product. I love hte look of the Dipricols. Clean and sharp.
Kris had a good spot to tap for ignition power that is also in that other thread. It is the #8 post in this thread:
Drilling for the EGT was easy. Slo and steady is the way to go and I used a flexible magnetic tool to clean out the pipe. I like knowing that mine is actually tapped into the exhaust, but I'm sure clamp is fine as well. I think I've heard of those coming loose ocassionally.
Check Brian at www.dieselpowerproducts.com. He pre-painted my pod for me and threw in the tap for free, although I did buy two sets. The pod painting was standard practice for him though. Think that my 4 gauge pod with the three Dipricols was $397 after WA tax and free shipping.
Tap and drill the manifold for the probe. It's less likely to get hit when working under the hood. I mounted mine in the up pipe with the clamp and it's been fine for 6 yrs. now, but if I to do it over it would install it in the manifold.
When my up pipes donuts leak again, I'll do the new bellows ones and move the probe to the manifold. Use a little bearing grease on the bit and go slow and easy, cleaning and regreasing before you penetrate through and it keeps the shavings manageable. I also magnetized the bit before I started.
