Why the big No-no?

I've noticed that whenever people post links to other sites, even with something relating to the topic of discussion, thats even APPROPRIATE, they get edited by staff.

Why the big No-No? I mean if its helpfull....

Some of those links also link to **** sites. The last two I looked at were that way, one very direct, the other not so much but it was there.

Some sites are in competition with this site and are pulled also.

I'm sure there are other reasons, but those are the two I've seen.

Some sites require people to be members and need the screen name/password deal.
If some one puts a link to a site like the above. We are there without "permission".
I have seen that a couple of times here.

I am sure an Admin and/or a Mod will fill us in on the FTE guidelines.

Have you guys ever thought about being an FTE supporter?

NO MORE ADS and other good stuff!

the reason MOST links are disallowed is because of copy write issues. if we allow you to link to a non-legal site, than we accept some of the legal issues.

if you were going to help someone and say, hey i found an answer to your problem over here, than 99% of the time it will fly.

Sorry... even my posts get flagged by the spam traps now and then (they occasionally have a false-positive).

Considering that 1-2 (sometimes 3-4) posts out of the 5000-6000 thousand daily posts (no kidding, its that high now), get flagged and about half of those are false negatives --- its not too bad a percentage. Less than 0.08 percent get trapped!
