Need another transmission

The first one went out because I was hauling my friends Dodge with a Cummins on a 30 foot gooseneck and he pulled the break away key and failed to put in back in so I ended up hauling it for 60+ miles with the brakes on, so i torched my clutches. I had a guy rebuild it and it was fine for a while, and now when it goes into third it locks the transmission up like it engages reverse at the same time as third. First gear, second gear and reverse works fine, just messes up in third...I had it hooked to a scanner but no codes...

I guess the question is how many miles since rebuild, did it come with a guarantee? A seal could have been damaged during assembly. What condition is the fluid in? Was correct fluid used after the rebuild? Pressure tests will locate the problem area. Too many variables to diagnose the transmission over a forum.

join the club, i trashed my transmission in 2 months, 4000 miles after buying from a ford dealer and they said that it only had a 3000 mile warentee on it, and after giving them and ear full i said screw it and just went for an ATS tranny, this way i hopefully dont have to deal with blowing the stock ones and having to get it replaced. $4600 for the tranny, torque converter, and shipping. im still waiting for it to come in, if you are plannign on going with ATS i woudl advise you to buy it right now and not wait for the transmission to be undrivable, because thats what i did and it takes 7-10 days to build the tranny, 3-5 to ship and then instalation... im still without my truck and it happened 2 weeks ago....good luck 2004 F350 PSD

I was told by Suncoast that it probably was the one-way diode behind the reverse piston or something, at the very back of the tranny... I was thinking about getting a Jasper Engines rebuilt transmission, they come with a 3 year 75,000 mile warranty.. Only thing I don't like about the ATS is to keep their warranty you have to buy their torque converter and once a year or every 30,000 miles you have to take the tranny to one of their approved service providers to have the transmission fluid serviced.
