I found the latch itself on blue oval truck parts but I can't find the cable or the rest of the parts needed. It is for a 79 F100 that did not come with the locking hood latch from the factory. If someone has the parts or knows where I can buy them new it would be great. I have alot of money under the hood of my truck and need a way to keep people out of it.
Guitar_demon thanks for the links. I need it so people can't look and see what I have under the hood, also. Plus my jerk off friends opened my hood and switched my plug wires before when I wasn't home.

78f250supercab I didn't receive your PM.
Good luck with the hood lock. My friend bought a '79 1/2 T 4x4 brand new and it came with the hood lock. He had problems with it from the first time he used it. The dealer replaced it twice and it still was always a problem. With friends like yours, who needs enemies?

Need an original, genuine Ford locking hood latch?
It's stillavailable from Ford.
The same locking hood latch was used on 1973/79 F100/350's, 1978/79 Bronco's and 1975/91 Econolines.
In 1987, Ford changed the original hood locking latch part number from D8TZ-16700-B to E7UZ-16700-A > >
> > From FTE sponsor DIRECT FORD PARTS: Ford suggested retail price: $97.73 / FTE member net: $69.08.
However, the Econoline hood cable is too short for F Series trucks.
Junkyards: 1973/79 F100/350's and 1978/79 Bronco's used the same locking cable as was used on the 1975/80 Ford Granada/Mercury Monarch and 1977/79 Lincoln Versailles.
D5DZ-16914-A. Ford no longer supplies this cable.

For my 1965 F100, I bought a 3 buck bicycle locking cable and a 15 buck Abus padlock 25 years ago...it's still on there now.
Unlike chain, the bicycle steel woven cable is coated in plastic...won't scratch the paint.
Abus Discus padlocks cannot be picked without the proper Abus locksmith tools, and can't be cut apart.
