Engine Won't Crank!!!!

I have a 2002 Explorer V6. I was testing for a windshield leak for water and yes I got water in the engine bay...but I didn't think a lot. What do I do? Thanks.

Does it crank over and not start, or does it not even crank? Do other electronics such as the lights work?

Okay...I have cleaned and blown out the distributor caps. Still the engine cranks strong, but will not turn over. Sounds like it is out of gas, but I have plenty of gas. I am baffled. Also, popped fuse lid and no fuses blown that I can see...I didn't check the smaller blade fuses.

You need to determine if your not getting fuel or spark to the plugs.

You could use a helper and remove one sparkplug wire and with a screwdriver or similar tool put it into the sparkplug wire end and hold the metal part of screwdriver near a metal part of engine like the exhaust manifold and while cranking engine over see if spark jumps from screwdriver to engine being carefull not to ground yourself. Use gloves and hold onto plastic part of tool.

As for fuel, the easiest way for you would be to spray a little starting fluid into intake and then crank engine and see if it tries to start. 1-2 seconds of spray should be sufficient.

When you turn the key to the ON position, you should hear the fuel pump prime for a second or 2. If not, then you have a fuel delivery problem. Start by checking fuses and the fuel pump relay in the power distribution.

I deliberately get my engine(s) wet all the time to clean them. Then, before I try to start them, I use my gasoline powered leaf blower and "blow dry" the whole compartment. I have never had one fail to start. Perhaps you could try blow drying the wet area, and if trying to start it we didn't fry something, you may be in luck.

If you do not get a spark, try changing a good relay (blower motor) for the engine relay etc.
