Ok, I just changed the oil, again, on my truck. Went to tighten the oil pan bolt up, and it never even got halfway tight. No resistance. Well... I kept turning and turning to make sure. There was no resistance. So, I get it to the 'tightest' spot (probably 5 lbs/ft, lol), and drive it down the road and back and park it to see if it's gonna leak (duh). After I park it, I go inside, come back out and see a tiny puddle of oil. It looked darker than I thought the new oil should, so I wiped it up to eliminate any confusion, went back inside (actually was painting a room inside), and came back out in 10 minutes only to see another oil puddle. (4 inches wide).
So, I get my 5 quart jug of Castrol GTX 10w-30 (empty now) and put it under the plug, and start to take the plug out. I was going to go ahead and capture my oil because I was going to go buy a new drain plug, and would have to take it out, anyways. I start turning it... and turning it... and turning it. The damn thing won't tighten OR loosen enough to come out. I just keep turning it (to take it out), and it never comes out.
WTF do I need to do? It got dark really fast during all of this, and my 250w/500w halogen light is at my mamaw's house. I'll probably just let it leak out in the jug overnight, but has this happened to anyone else? I put some vice grips on it and pulled it out as I turned it to take it out, and it still isn't doing any good. I'll try that again, harder, tomorrow... but has anyone else had this happen?
Needless to say something is stripped out. Hopefully your fixed up by now. But if not A number of years ago I helped my friend do a job like this, there was a whole kit with a tap and a new plug. Wasn't as easy as the package inferred, but ity did the job. For how long it's good is another point. Good Luck!
