[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-May-02 AT 08:50 AM (EST)]I just got finished looking up your 385-series parts in one of my parts source books.Here it goes;D1VE block-'68-'70 year,C9AE heads-'70-'71 429CJ,429SCJ,&429P.I.-73cc combustion chamber volume,2.24" intake valves&1.725" exhaust valves,D3VE-A2A heads-'72-'74 429/460 heads-91cc combustion chamber volume,2.08" intake valves&1.66" exhaust valves,DOVE-C heads-'68-'71 429/460 heads-75cc combustion chamber volume,2.08" intake valves&1.66" exhaust valves.The crankshaft you listed,2YABC,should be a 3.85" stroke(460) crank made from '68-'78 years.Hope this helps.

Sorry about the CJ head goof-up.That source book listed them wrong for some reason...another book lists D0OE-R heads as being '70-'71 429 CJs.Intake valves should be 2.19"&exhaust valves should be 1.73".Port sizes are listed as the following:2.51"x2.11"Intake,2.25"x1.30"Exhaust.

The one book I have on 385-series engines doesn't have factory part #s listed for the different intake manifolds offered, and the other only lists service part #s for the intakes. The DOVE-B intake should be a 1970 piece(D=1970s),the specific model year should be 1970(0=1970 year),and it should be from a 460 Lincoln(V=Lincoln).I got this info. by using a Ford part #s decoder in the back of the source book. That means that a D6VE-A2A intake would break down as being cast in the 1970's(D),and actually in the year 1976(6),and originally cast as a 460 Lincoln part(V).My guess is it is just the same basic factory part # for all 460 intake manifolds made 1976,whether it was on a 460 in a Lincoln, fullsize Ford,Gran Torino,or a Thunderbird.

Just some general info on the first 4 characters of a Ford casting number.....
Most parts befor the 60's only has 3 characters, btw.
first character
C > 60's
D > 70's
E > 80's
F > 90's
Second character/number is the actual year as explained
The third character is the car line the part was origianlly manufactured for. There are others but can't place my hands on them at the moment and they would include Lincoln and Mercury.
A > Galaxie
O > Fairlane
S > Thunderbird
T > Truck
U > might be Econoline
V > Lincoln
Z > Mustang
4th character is the division the part was made in.
E > engine
X > racing
The last few characters/numbers are the revisions of the parts for that casting/year, i.e., D0VE-A/B/C cylinder heads
All the parts that most seek for the 385 engines are prior to the D3 casting numbers. Such as the D0VE blocks and heads. The D0VE and D1VE blocks are usually the ones with the thicker cylinder walls and the D0VE block with the thicker main webs, was also used in the CJ engines
with 2 bolt mains and some D0VE blocks came with 4 bolt mains. The B9 blocks all had C9 casting numbers.
