Timing? Carb?
My rebuilt 429 a real hard time starting, fires a couple of times after key is turned off and shakes really bad when doing so, really bad pick-up until about 1600 rpm, up until 1600 when throttle is 3/4 pressed or less it really stutters and runs rough, finally, can't get a consistant idle speed! Is it my carb, or timing or both
any help is appreciated!:-(

Timing? Carb?
I had a 460 that I had a hard time starting. It would crank really slow like the starter was bad, but it was new. When it did start it ran very rough like yours. The timing turned out to be extremely advanced so I got a timing lite and set it properly and it would start and Idle fine. Also make shure you dont have any plug wires on the wrong plug, this would make it run rough too. If the timing is set right and the plug wires are right start suspecting the carb.
