What gear ratios should I got to on a 1995 F350 w/ powerstroke. The motor is unmodified and I would be running 37" tires. I still wanna be able to tow the same amounts. I would be towing a 7000 lbs toyhauler and a 4000 boat. I would be will to give up a little gas mileage for more down low..Any help is appreciated.
with 37's and towing 4:56's would be my minimum, 4.10's just wont cut it on 37's, i run 4.10's with 35's and would benefit from the 4:56's but i am happy with my highway performance, the 37's would be too much on 4:10's in my opinion.
running the 37's on 4:56's should give you a stock feel for driving and yield roughly a 2000 rpm at 65-70 mph in od
Yeah I would be interested what gears you have now. If you have 3.55's you will certainly be looking for some better gearing. if you have 4.10's I would try it out then go from there. If you need more gear than I would go with Joe on the 4.56's. One thing to remember is even if the power is there running 4.10's with those tires still could be putting alot of stress on the tranny.
I stand corrected Sorry dude. I have 4.10's and run 29575's and don't even have a slight problem pulling a 15,000 lb camper That is what I was going off of. These guys have you on the right track, but I would still try it and see how it feels like Tim said.
