[updated:LAST EDITED ON 24-May-02 AT 11:37 PM (EST)]I beleive the [i] you have there is really a 1 . The [d] means 70s the [1] means 1 and the [v] is lincoln and the [e] is for engine.
So its a 1971 lincoln engine. The a2a is just more of a production date. I beleive this is all correct but Im kinda new to these codes myself. Im sure you will get more input.
Sorry my post got screwed up there some how. The [i] you have is really a [1]. So here goes.
D IS FOR 1970'S
1 IS FOR 71
V IS FOR Lincoln Continental 1961-1981
E is the source code for engine
So its a 1971 lincoln engine. The a2a is a production code. I beleive this is all correct but Im kinda new to these codes myself. Im sure there will be more input.
That looks correct to me too. The V for Lincoln is for the originail intended model I think. I have only seen V (Lincoln) and T (Truck) 460 casting codes. The a2a production code is the parts revision code. The a2a is one design rev older than a a2b for example.
thanks for the help on the decoding. I'm in the process of finding a good machine shop to inspect and work on my block and heads. I'll post how its going when i get it built.
