I got a 78 F250 ranger supercab.
It Has a 460 with the number on the side of the block DIVE-6015
I plan to put this engine and trans in my 82 F150 supercab that now has a 302.
This ranger has big brakes on the front with 2 pistons and my 150 has the single piston on the front.
How much trouble am I gonna run into if I put these big brakes on my 150?
Also this 460 has the front oil pan sump where my 150 has the rear sump.
Is this gonna be a problem?
I don't think the front brake swap will work, at least not just the calipers. Especially since the f-150 has the TTB suspension setup. Might be able to swap hubs off the f-250 to the f-150 to use the bigger brakes. I know this can be done on the solid axle trucks in the '70's but not sure on the later trucks. I know you can't use a front sump pan unless truck is lifted. The pan will hit on the front differntial on drivers side.
you can buy a new rear sump pan and dipstick from ford for the 460 but you will also need to get a different oil pump as the BBF uses different pumps entirely for front sump vs rear sump pickups.
D1VE, tell me it is a 71 engine, passenger car. there is more there but don't have that infront of me but do a search I know I have seen a list on here for what it all means.
