That's what we in KY call a GOM!! For all of you who don't know what a GOM is, it's a mess beyond repair. Of course in this case, it could be cut out and a whole new dash put in it's place.
Maybe if we had enough of Bobby's frosty's it might look good???
Hey - All the old classics had wood inlayed dashes and trim, some of the newer Hi-end cars still do.
Maybe this Dud thought he was goin' up-town.
(NOTE: No I didn't leave the "e" off of Dude.)
Oh. During the 70's I was involved in customizing Vans, We replaced a Chevy Dash, the whole thing, with a one piece carved Black Cherry unit. And yes every thing else was covered in ****.
I was looking for new and innovative ideas for a one off dash and some "Dud" has gone and stole my idea....well....now onto plan 'B' before someone else beats me to it...
I like the location of the speaker, gives you that surround sound premium speaker sound in the cab. My guess is someone told him that cars or trucks with wood grain dashes are worth more. He definitely has wood grain, non of that wood stickon tape stuff for this guy. I bet he's ready to install vintage air, that'll make the dash come together. Looks like the hood even has a flame paint job. What can you say, it's one HOT TRUCK!
It looks like you boys don't appreciate fine woodworking in 1/4" plywood. You have yet to note the sleek bondo fairing and gap filler. You have yet to note the instrument panel and matching (well it is wood) steering wheel.
If the folks who do our categorization here lump this under "dark side" then perhaps you could take me off that list and think of my '54 as a hot rod truck. Thank you for your consideration.
