I have noticed on my truck, and on some other superduty's that under the hood on the driver's side there is 4 wires that are from the factory not connected to anything. i believe they are white, blue, red and maybe black? they are just taped up and zip tied in the engine compartment. What are these for? My truck is an 03 so it cant be upfitter switches as they did not come till 05.
I have the same as well. Friend of mine says they are for the trailer brakes. I called BS. Since the wiring is inside the truck for brake controls. Still would like to know as well. I have an '02 after May 27
They are pass through wires (4 of them) that you will find under the dash on the firewall on the driver's side and are just there to use as you desire. You can use them to wire additional accessories without putting additional wires through the firewall or making additional holes. They come in handy with the upfitter switches, but I assume they have been putting them in the trucks before they started with the upfitter switches in 2005.
my 2001 f350 has them also. When i had my trailer brake installed I watched for over an hour as the mechanic fumbled to attach it to these wire. I kept telling him to use the wire harness, but he didn't get it for some reason. It was quite when the owner of the shop came in and said "use the wire harness"
used the pass through wires on my new truck, thanks to finding out what they were for a year ago on this site... THANKS FTE! saved me so much time an effort.
