My oldest just informed me he had enough of college in Texas and is comming home in March, I think it is because his little brothers can't keep a secret and told him about the heart attacks. I think I'll send this to him since that is the school he is transfering out of. Thanks guys it'll cheer him up.
maybe I can talk him into going to OSU like I did. Maybe that will carry more clout than evergreen. his Grandfather is going to have a blast about this as hates evergreeners or greeners because of all of the environmental crap that they have stired around the ranch. Oh well it is not the first time he has not been happy that his great grand kids have done something he doesn't approve of.
Evergreen?......*shiver*....something about a school that doesn't believe in grades makes me itch. Living here in Olympia I've had the opportunity to meet many that have attended that school, and to be honest, I wonder what they're serving in their muffins at the student center.
This town is so politically polarized to the liberal, though, it doesn't surprise me that a school like Evergreen would flourish. If ever you want to see evidence of how one sided this town is, come on down for Lakefair during the summer. At Lakefair, there are booths with games, artsy fartsy stuff to buy, the farmers market, rides, etc., but there are also booths that sell typical carnival food.
This, in and of itself isn't too noteworthy, but there are two that will spell out the story around here. One of them, sells what they call "Demoburgers". The booth is in surpport of the Democratic party, hence the name of the burger, which is a fairly lousy burger on a wheat bun. The other booth, which is in support of the Republican party, sells BBQ beef sandwiches, which are still so-so, but are really not bad...or at least a sight better than those Demoburgers. The evidence I speak of, can be seen if you simply stand back from the booths, and look at the lines. Last summer, I did just that, and while the Demoburger booth had a line that stretched back for over 20 people, the BBQ beef sandwich line had literally noone in it.
So, there you have it...people in this town would rather be fed sub-standard food, and cling with blind loyalty to party affiliations, than to just eat something that isn't half bad. Personally, I was annoyed with the entire concept, so I walked down the way and got the egg rolls and noodles from the Vietnamese stand...who had no political affiliation...and it was still so-so, but not as silly.
