Flowmaster Super 40?

Anyone ever put a Flowmaster super 40 or 44 muffler on a stock Expy? I'm not talking about a cat back system, just a strait replacment for the stock muffler. If so, how did it sound?

I did and it sounds awesome. Its loud and to me it sounds like true dual exhaust not that v6 dual exhaust sound. The drone in the cab can get a little annoying but believe me it sounds mean.

I have a 40 series (muffler only) on my 00 Expy. I love it and it sounds perfect. My wife even likes it every time she starts it in the morning. If you want to minimize interior noise but keep the good rumble outside, get the Delta Series.

I would look into a magnaflow or a dynomax muffler. The flowmaster stuff is loud and tinny IMO, the magnaflow and dynomax stuff is a little more mellow and shaped if you will.

Are you talking about the Delta 50's?

A few years ago I added the 40 series Delta to a 66 Galaxie. Maybe that isn't offered anymore. My Expy is the standard 40 series. I just assummed they still had a Delta for the 40 series. Not sure but I do know that the Delta was quiter for the interior but still sounded great outside. My Expy isn't loud but you can hear it when driving even at a steady 70 mph. I like the sound though.

If you do any amount of driving you don't want it to drone. It will make you insane!

Yeah, I think I might go with the three chamber 50 - I must be getting old. I think it will still sound good.

I have the 40 series Delta Flow. I actually posted about it in another guys thread asking about tuneup and addons if you want to read about it but all I can say is that for my 03' Expy it gets the job done with performance and sound quality inside the cab (not as much in-cab drone as other models) as well as outside (sounds beefy) so in comparison its a very balanced setup. I'll put a link in here in a sec to that other post so you can see everything i posted so I'm not cluttering the forums with the same info.

I think the 40's might be a little much, so I'm thinking about the 50's. I just want to replace the muffler and it seems like te stock one is off set going in and out. A shop near me said they would weld it in but I want to get the right one. Does this look right for my '99 Expy. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...part=flo-52553

Has anyone tried Gibson exhaust? I have it on my 2005 SD V10 and it sounds really good. I was going to install Gibson on my 2000 Expedition 5.4 but now I might go with Flowmaster.

I put on 50 series suv and it rocks. Beefy but not annoyingly loud. I only replaced the muffler, single in/single out.

I have a flowmaster 50 Delta on my system, I'll give you of a video of it in action if you want to hear it. The droan is noticeable inside but standable. The Flowmaster 40 though I think is entirely too loud for the vehicle inside, especially when the truck runs in the 1900-2200RPM power band. Outside the vehicle, at 3-5k RPM on the delta flow 50, the motor outright roars. I don't see any need for bigger, but to each their own. But if it's a vacation vehicle, i don't recommend higher than the 50 Delta.

As to the magnaflow/flowmaster debate, I don't like magnaflows. They have as said a mellow sound, which i don't think fits a V8 truck. My Delta Flow has a deep authoritative sound that fits the size of the truck, the Magnaflow has a mellow sound suited to the six bangers if you ask me.
