My 2000 7.3 misses and is real hard to start evan in the 30 dig. range
It continues to miss untill it has warmed up any ideas??
It starts better pluged in but still misses. Fuil filter has been changed
Looks like glow plug issues, do a search in this forum and you'll find all kinds of readin'. Or someone else will chime in. BTW, welcome to FTE, the best.
Do you get a SES light ? Can you get someone to read your fault codes? Mine was missing and it turned out to be a loose under the valve cover plastic connector that feeds your injectors and glow plugs.. (poor design, plastic locking tabs warp from the heat and oil.. ) And a big Welcome to lthe forum...

the Romps are when a truck starts and sounds like a gasser with a huge cam in it. Romp......Romp......Romp....
the Romps are an ongoing problem. some trucks do it, some do not. conditions vary from one truck to the next, but most of the time it is associated with cold weather.
Any smoke when this happens?
Smoke should indicate that you have fuel injection and a lack of compression (or mis timed injection)
If it is missing without any smoke, I would suspect that an injector or two are not firing.
When it first starts and before it warms up it does smoke untill it warms up???
Oil is new and it is full.
What color is the smoke until it warms up. Do you get a check engine light when the truck is running rough? When you say warms up, do you mean to full operating temperature or just after it runs for a couple of minutes?
00 350,
Give this a try. When you start the truck. After the "WTS" light goes out, listen for the vacuum pump and/or any other noises from under the hood. When everything is quiet, start the truck.
I have noticed that my truck with have tough cold starts when the batts are getting worn down. All of the mechanical devices and heaters task the batteries pretty heavily.
If your truck starts well by doing this, you probably should have your batteries load tested.

Have you checked to see if you have power at your GPR (glow plug relay)? It's the round relay on top of the motor. You should have 2 side by side (unless it's a CA truck). The one in front has 2 big wires and 2 small wires. One of the big wires is always hot. The other wire is only hot immediately after the key is turned on. Check for 12 volts after the key on.
I'll assume your blueish smoke is kind of white and look at the glow plug issues first since you can test this for free without tearing into anything. There are several other possibilities but I like to run through the free and easy ones first.
