1985 f-150 4x4 long bed reg cab with 300 6 or 351 w 6 in lift 35x12.50s with sas for weekend war dd and towing thats the dream any way
you could easily answer all your questions with just a little research, a GREAT place for SAS info is on FSB, they have a forum for just SAS's.....here you go
Question #1 Not a better ride........but not a bad ride/ yes on the tires
Question #2 Yes to clear the cross member and then it still need some minor modification.
Question#3 You can get most of the parts from junk......hardest part is the steering(DON"T CUT CORNERS) takes a little work to get caster right but not to hard
Question #4 78-79 reverse cut
Question #5- yes
If you dont plan on lifting the truck then why go through the trouble/cost of doing a SAS? The TTB axle under the truck now will hold up fine with 35s and I doubt you will ever realize the sas saving you money on tires. Cost to do vs cost of say 4 new front tires.
Slap a 4" lift on it with the ttb drop brackets and call it a day. I love my 300-6 in my 79 f150 but the aftermarket is flooded with winsor parts. If someone had the desire they could build a jam up 500hp stroked winsor and for pretty cheap. You cant say that about a 300....even turbo'd.
I put a 4 inch lift on my truck 89' with a ttb and my wheels are as straight as an arrow really hav'nt had any problems with tire wear. I really must've instld my lift
just right cuz really your not the first to have worn tires.
